Damao’s ART

Staring at a portrait will make one no longer numb, no longer turn a blind eye to the suffering around; Clearing roles will make it easier for one to face the unbearable past. Every morning, the razor or lipstick is never reached out to the self in the mirror, and the “portrait and character” in the multi-dimensional interactive transformation background are not confused.

Contemporary artist Damao moved into her studio in Seattle in 2018, continuing the original creative theme of “similarity, exclusivity, and open possibilities without locality” from her studio in Caodi, Beijing. His works include writing, poetry, oil paintings on canvas, art installations, performance art, photographs, and videos, revealing a more contemporary exploration in an open and diverse context.

Content: The postmodern jigsaw puzzle style incorporates portraits of “non benchmarked opponents” and scene paintings of “absent observers” into the contemporary art scene of order. Or the fleeting moments missed by the object, or the occasional emptiness of partial absence, facing the open power of the landlessness with empathy.

Influence: The work has been published in influential media such as Fashion Bazaar magazine, Discovery Channel, and participated in group exhibitions such as Chengdu Biennale, Art Beijing, Pingyao International Photography Festival, and held a solo exhibition of “Anchor of Time” in Shanghai in 2014.
